Our Cookbook Blog

Our Cookbook ~ What We Cook, is a compilation of every recipe we (Janice and Carissa) cook - recipes from our cookbook collections, our recipe boxes, and our heads! We set up this blog for friends and family who have our cookbook to let them see pictures we post of the recipes in the book, and also for us to note any corrections, revisions, or additions to What We Cook. We encourage people who are cooking our recipes to let us know how the recipes turn out and any suggestions they might want to make.

In addition, we will be sharing some of our new recipes (along with pictures) that are not in our cookbook. We hope you will help us out and test recipes and give us your comments.

Simplified Chicken Cordon Bleu, pg.135

As Carissa and I make recipes from What We Cook, we will try to remember to take pictures to post them for you to get an idea of how they should look. I almost forgot the picture of tonight's dinner. I had to grab David's plate away from him after a couple bites, cause his plate looked the best! I did make some additions to this old time favorite at our house. I only had one chicken breast to use, so I added some extra vegatables I had on hand.  Before sauteing the chicken strips in the butter, I first sauteed some fresh red pepper strips and some large hunks of baby portabella mushrooms I had in the fridge. These two veggies made a great addition to this delicious dish. The ham I used was a leftover slice I had stuck in the freezer after our Christmas dinner. So I was able to make this dinner up really fast and easy!
