There is no need to go to Starbucks for this sweet, refreshing drink; you can make it just as good at home! This makes a nice summer dessert, or a fun afternoon pick-me-up drink.
Get your ingredients assembled before you start the blender. Have your glasses chilling in the freezer, and it helps if your strong coffee is already refrigerator cold. (That will make your shake thicker.) The whip cream on top is optional, (we only use it on special occasions, as these drinks are very good on their own) but if you do use it, get it whipped up and waiting before you start the shake.
Whether you use the whipped cream topping or not, add a light shake of cinnamon for an extra level of flavor. These drinks are very delicious. One hint: Carissa likes this just as the recipe is written...but I prefer a little more coffee and a little less sugar. So feel free to play with the formula to suit your taste.
Our Cookbook Blog
Our Cookbook ~ What We Cook, is a compilation of every recipe we (Janice and Carissa) cook - recipes from our cookbook collections, our recipe boxes, and our heads! We set up this blog for friends and family who have our cookbook to let them see pictures we post of the recipes in the book, and also for us to note any corrections, revisions, or additions to What We Cook. We encourage people who are cooking our recipes to let us know how the recipes turn out and any suggestions they might want to make.
In addition, we will be sharing some of our new recipes (along with pictures) that are not in our cookbook. We hope you will help us out and test recipes and give us your comments.
