Our Cookbook Blog

Our Cookbook ~ What We Cook, is a compilation of every recipe we (Janice and Carissa) cook - recipes from our cookbook collections, our recipe boxes, and our heads! We set up this blog for friends and family who have our cookbook to let them see pictures we post of the recipes in the book, and also for us to note any corrections, revisions, or additions to What We Cook. We encourage people who are cooking our recipes to let us know how the recipes turn out and any suggestions they might want to make.

In addition, we will be sharing some of our new recipes (along with pictures) that are not in our cookbook. We hope you will help us out and test recipes and give us your comments.

Peanut Butter Fiber Balls ~ page 259

These are really good. I bought some whole dates in the bulk aisle today at the grocery store, and came home hoping I had all the ingredients to make these. I used some already-mixed peanut butter, agave nectar, a mix I had of oat bran, wheat germ and flax meal, chopped dates, and walnuts instead of chocolate chips. Then I rolled them in unsweetened dried coconut. I only made about 1/3 of the recipe because I didn't have much peanut butter... next time I will buy a whole jar!

I know I will have to hide the rest or Ben will take them all to work with him tomorrow!

great picture, julia! these looked so good, i made them today. i used wheat germ inside too instead of the bran and i have no idea what they taste like with the bran, but they are very delicious like this. i also used mini chocolate chips since i had about the right amount leftover from something else that i wanted to use up. they are really filling just like the recipe says!
